In response to the increasing competition from providers like Elon Musk’s Starlink, which offers up to 200 Mbps at only Ksh 6,500, Safaricom has significantly enhanced its internet speeds for both home and business customers. This move aims to meet the growing demands of individual and enterprise users.
Home Fibre Upgrades
Safaricom has introduced a new ultra-fast 1000Mbps (Gigabit per second) Platinum plan for home users, priced at KES 20,000 monthly.
This makes Safaricom the first provider to deliver Giga speeds for home internet in Kenya, catering to heavy users such as gamers, content creators, and those using virtual reality applications.
Current customers will automatically be upgraded to the enhanced packages to enjoy faster speeds.
Plan | Old Speed | New Speed | Price (KES) |
---|---|---|---|
Bronze | 10 Mbps | 15 Mbps | 2,999 |
Silver | 20 Mbps | 30 Mbps | 4,100 |

Diamond | 100 Mbps | 500 Mbps | 12,499 |
Platinum | – | 1000 Mbps | 20,000 |
Additionally, Safaricom has launched the Family Share plan, an integrated solution combining mobile voice, data, SMS, and home internet into a single plan.
This plan can be shared with up to five household members, offering up to a 20% discount on the Bronze plan compared to purchasing Fibre and voice/data plans separately.
Enhancements for Enterprise Customers
For enterprise customers, Safaricom has revamped its Business Fibre plans, introducing new speeds of up to 1 Gbps for Medium and Large Enterprises, alongside increased speeds for Micro and Small Enterprises.
These plans include features such as 24/7 proactive monitoring, network visibility, burstability, backup options, static IP support, embedded security, and an impressive 99.99% uptime.

Safaricom says it is committed to enhancing customer experience by carrying out estate clinics, increasing capacity in congested areas, and offering competitive 4G and 5G propositions for homes outside fibre coverage.
Over the last financial year, Safaricom expanded its Fibre footprint by over 3,000 kilometers, resulting in more than 370,000 homes and 32,000 businesses now connected to fast and reliable internet.
