OPPO Commits to Democratizing AI through Increasing Access to AI Phones

This week, OPPO, a global leader in smart devices, took center stage at Google I/O Connect China following the Google Cloud Next ’24 event.

Kai Tang, President of OPPO’s Software Engineering, shared insights into how generative AI technology is revolutionizing the smartphone industry.

Kai highlighted OPPO’s AI phone strategy, featuring high-productivity AI features integrated with Google Gemini models.

Key Innovations from OPPO:

1. AI Recording Summary: This feature supports multi-speaker recognition, automatically extracting essential information from lengthy meetings and condensing it into concise summaries. By streamlining manual tasks, it significantly enhances work efficiency.
2. AI Toolbox: Integrated within the ColorOS smart sidebar, the AI Toolbox comprises three core features: AI Summary, AI Writer, and AI Speak. These tools facilitate efficient reading, effortless content creation, and hands-free interaction, providing a seamless user experience.

These high-productivity AI features are now available in ColorOS 14 and have been incorporated into the recently globally launched OPPO Reno12 series (launching in Nairobi next week).

Through strategic collaborations with partners like Google, OPPO aims to democratize AI phones, making efficiency and convenience accessible to a broader audience.

In June, OPPO announced a commitment to making AI phones accessible to all, being the first in the industry to bring generative AI to all smartphone product lines.

By the end of this year, OPPO aims to equip around 50 million devices with generative AI features, including the returning Find X flagship series to the global market.
