Vivo Energy Kenya, the company that distributes and markets Shell products locally, has announced the launch of a new generation of Shell fuels. According to the company, these updated formulations are the result of five years of development and mark Shell’s most advanced fuel products to date.
Reformulated Fuels with Performance Claims
The new fuel lineup includes:
-
Shell V-Power Unleaded
-
Shell FuelSave Unleaded
-
Shell FuelSave Diesel
Vivo Energy claims that each of these products has been reformulated with modern cleaning agents and technology designed to enhance performance. One of the headline claims is that the new Shell FuelSave Unleaded can deliver up to 15 additional kilometres per tank compared to previous formulations.
Shell attributes these reported improvements to a combination of cleaner-burning components and additives aimed at keeping engines in better condition over time. However, specific technical details or independent test data were not publicly disclosed during the launch.
Strategic Response to Evolving Driver Needs
Speaking at the launch event, Hans Paulsen, Executive Vice President East at Vivo Energy, framed the introduction as a response to changing customer expectations:
“Shell is constantly in the pursuit of delivering more—more mileage, more engine cleanliness and protection, and a smoother drive. This launch is a strategic move based on customer insights.”
He also highlighted that the updated Shell V-Power Unleaded was co-developed with Scuderia Ferrari, Shell’s long-term technical partner in motorsports, and is intended to reflect cutting-edge innovation in fuel technology.
Focus on Retail and Commercial Service Quality
Vivo Energy Kenya emphasized that its commitment to customer satisfaction extends beyond the fuel itself. In retail, the company aims to provide a comprehensive, high-quality experience across its Shell service stations—spanning fuel forecourts, convenience stores, and in-station cafés.
In the commercial segment, Vivo Energy highlighted a focus on offering tailored solutions that align with the operational needs of business clients, aiming to build long-term partnerships based on service reliability and sector-specific support.
While the claims made by Shell and Vivo Energy about enhanced mileage and engine performance are ambitious, independent assessments will be key to validating these benefits in real-world conditions. For now, Kenyan motorists can expect to see the new fuels gradually introduced across Shell-branded service stations nationwide.
