I had the Tecno Camon 20 Pro for slightly more than a week using it as my daily phone. This is for calls, access to multiple applications, photography, entertainment and of course my son borrowing it occasionally for gaming.
I am not a big fan of sharing devices with children but since he is a bigger gamer than I am, that was the best way for me to test certain features of this particular device when it comes to how it handles games…here I am talking about battery life, comfort on the hands after long hours of gaming and eye comfort.
I am still trying to figure out what my favourite feature of this particular device is and I am currently stuck between its stylish design and the camera. Specifically the camera’s Super Night feature.
I love events…whether it’s attending or hosting. Usually with events come the necessity to freeze moments in the form of photos. With most of these events happening at night or in the evenings with not very good lighting conditions, capturing those moments doesn’t always result in beautiful photos that we all can be proud of.
The Super Night feature ensures that your photos are properly lit for both selfies taken with the 32MP Shining AI front camera or the 64MP Extreme Definition main camera.

This particular device is also known as the Portrait Master because of its ability to capture stunning images day or night with quality that rivals an SLR camera.

The main 64 MP camera is also equipped with ultra-sensitive RGBW sensors. Now, most cameras only have RGB colour sensors but this particular device has an extra W (white) channel for capturing more light and lighter shades of colours.

Performance
The device performs medium to heavy tasks with a lot of ease. Gaming is usually that test I expose a device to determine how well it handles heavy tasks. This particular one handled real-time online gaming with multiple players really well without any lags.
Even after long hours of playing, I did not experience heating which is usually common with devices when exposed to heavy usage over long periods of time.
As you are probably already aware, the devices on the Camon 20 series are one of the first mobile devices to feature the all-new Android 14 Beta release.
The device’s performance is powered by a 5000mAh battery and an Helio G99 Octa-Core processor. Backed up with 256GB ROM and 8GB RAM, I did not have to worry about running out of storage space or experiencing lag when engaged in heavy usage.
My overall assessment is that this is a high-performance device coming to the market at a very affordable rate of Kes 30,999. Definitely worth every penny!
