A report by Mashable has revealed that the social media messaging platform, WhatsApp, is increasing its group messaging offering to accommodate 1,024 members. This comes after the member limit was extended to 512 earlier in May.
The increased capacity is however only available to a few users who are part of beta testers at the moment. When it doubled the group member capacity in May, the platform also introduced the ability to share large files of up to 2GB.
The platform also recently introduced updates to its privacy policies including the ability to allow users to read group messages without letting the message authors know that they read the message.
Previously, you would know that someone read your message in a WhatsApp group by highlighting it and clicking on the info button.
The platform has also added controls on who can see if one is online, features preventing screenshots and ability to leave groups without other group members being notified.
WhatsApp which is owned by Meta now has more than 2 billion users worldwide. Th
