Kisumu is set to host an international trade, tourism and cultural exhibition in July. The Expo is part of the Kisumu 2020 initiative which seeks to open up Kisumu to the international market.
The organizers are expecting to bring together about 15,000 exhibitors and buyers in the four day event that begins on July 12th. The event will also feature an international conference to be held at Sunset Hotel, Imperial Hotel and Sovereign Hotel.
KISUMU-2020 is a niche event specially organized to promote economic activity not only in Lake Basin and Western Kenya but also nationally. KISUMU-2020 focus will be different from other fairs as it envisions approaching stakeholder engagement in a more holistic way.

Several exhibitors from Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Europe and Asia have already confirmed participation in the expo.
Coming about 30 days to the general elections, the organizers of the event also plan to carryout peace caravans across the county to sensitive the population on the important role that peace plays in spurring economic growth and development.
Kisumu has previously been the center of vicious political violence and the organizers of the event believe that ensuring peaceful elections this August will go a long way in attracting investment and job creation.

The organizers are also looking forward to an opportunity to work with startups across the county and help them grow through business mentorship.
