Expat Mkwanja has done a rendition of Suzzane Owiyo’s Kisumu 100 and we need to STOP him. If you know me you probably know that I am not the kind of brother that thrives in bringing others down but I feel that we have let Xpat go on for so long and we now need to intervene and help a brother.
Those were the most torturous 3 minutes and 11 seconds of my life! If you thought Nyama kwa Nyama and Bolingo were whack tracks then you need to listen to this. It’s the Holy Grail of whackness!
There is always one rule to remixes, “if you can’t make it better than the original, don’t touch it.”
I agree that I might be growing old and not in sync with the current generation’s taste in music but I do not think that even my 7 month old daughter would forgive Xpat for doing this to a classic.
I am not the only one who feels this way though;
Mimi sijawai elewa kama ni mziki anafanya ama public speech!!
There is just no way you can do that to a classic track!!
Ingekuwa medieval times this would result to public stoning!! – Dave Ngiri Odira reacting after listening to the song on Kisumu Trendsetters’ Whatsapp group.
Xpat however feels that the song is good going by his response to a tweet from me.
@IamOminde @SuzannaOwiyo it’s an untried concept. At least I tried. Most people love it!

Brian Erastus Xoul Afrique and Uzima Vibe band have both done impressive acoustic renditions of Kisumu 100 with the latter even performing it on stage with Suzzane in one occasion. We are still not sure if Xpat was given the rights to remix the song by Suzzane so we won’t be surprised to see legal suits.
