Kisumu has definitely come of age entertainment wise and that is something we can be proud of but as we drink and merry the club owners laugh all the way to the bank every weekend. Not a bad thing if you look at it the way I do. Last December I gave you the ultimate party guide and called it “Kisumu’s top ten badass clubs” – you can read it here. Things have changed a little bit and today I want to tell you the top 5 joints in Kisumu.
Well there are clubs that were on my top 5 list last time but won’t make it to this list this time round because of the dynamism in this town’s entertainment. Latitude Lounge Kisumu is one spot you must visit while in Kisumu, talk about three floors of pure entertainment but I think the five above just raised the bar a little too high.
So let’s not wast anymore time and move straight to it….
5. Kamikaze wasn’t anywhere in the list last December but here it is today coming up pretty strong. One of the newest joints in town and is housed on the same building as Buccaneers. Actually they are both owned by the same guys who brought you Cafe’ Ole. Located on Obote Road Kisumu. My worry is that Buccaneers might just sap the life out of it.
4. Barcadia Lounge is like that old woman that won’t just die…yes she is indeed old compared to the rest of the joints on this list but is still holding on strong. Still making the party happen and get in at 11 PM on a weekend night and you won’t find any seating space left. Dj Frankie makes things happen here and BoB is one of the coolest club managers in town…this is where Kisumu’s young professionals meet. For me it’s always the place to finish the night in and almost everybody knows everybody here. It’s a family kinda thing.
3. Samba Marina has for some reason been dethroned from number two…that is what happens when we have new clubs in town and trust me there is a new club popping up in every street corner these days. Still a cool place to hang out and most definitely Kisumu’s home of Rhumba. My homeboy Dj Basil holds it down here alongside Dj Roughidea. The names Deejays call themselves these days!!
2. I had a very hard time deciding on who sits at number two because that is what determines who is Kisumu’s biggest club this Easter. Unfortunately Signature has been dethroned as well. Still a big club in town and this position could be contested. They got the biggest theme nights in town and is most definitely the only club you will enjoy partying at from Monday to Monday. Dj Slim who is also a Dj at Kisumu’s Urban Radio 102.5 FM holds it down here. So why are they not at number one? Find out next…
1.Ladies and gentle men let’s put our hands together for Buccanners Night Club. This baby has come straight from nowhere to numero uno!! Everything about the club is just but revolutionary. The interior decor and lighting is just amazing. I still say whoever designed the Dj Booth is a genius. Plenty of dancing space and as if that is not enough they just threw in a good measure of exotic dancers…how could they not be at number one?
I hope nobody will cry of bias this time round….my favorite Club wasn’t even on this list.
