Last year in November after going on one of my regular errands in Nairobi courtesy of Latitude Capital LTD, I did a blog post (you can read it here) telling you about my parties and rubbing shoulders with who is who in Kenyan Radio. I also told you that a new Urban Radio station will be hitting the airwaves in Kisumu very soon – well, Urban Radio is what I was talking about!!
Urban Radio 102.5 fm has finally landed in Kisumu. The station started broadcasting in Mid December 2013 with uninterrupted music that was finally a breath of fresh air to the residents of Kisumu City and it’s environs. The station which is owned by some of the leading presenters in Easy Fm with interests from other Nairobi Businessmen treated Kisumu fans to an electrifying concert on Tuesday featuring Rabbit Kaka Sungura, Abbas Kubaff, Dj Ed OG (sorry about my ranking) and MC Davy Ranks.
The station is expected to unveil it’s lineup of presenters in the coming weeks….some of Kisumu’s big names already in the team include Dj Slim (who will spice the shows with Dj Mixes) and Dave Ngiri Odira (Producer) for now keep it Urban Radio and enjoy the music as we wait for the revolution in Kisumu’s Entertainment Industry.
To Kisumu artists and producers, Urban Radio will not play your music just because you are from Kisumu – Invest in good music instead of wasting time yapping about who is Kisumu’s King of what!!
