Lately I have been having what we call a writer’s block – for those who went to good schools you’ll know that this is what happens when a writer has nothing to write about so don’t ask me why I’ve been quiet for a while.
Jana nite was just another awesome night in K-City thanx to the Karaoke night at Tamiez with Laura-Jean Louis – wait a minute, did I say Karaoke Nite? Actually, that was the idea and it started off pretty well…I even did a song! Yeah am so damn serious I sang and you should believe that.
As the night was going on well and the not so big crowd were doing rounds singing and having free sambuca shots some crazy hip hop heads stole the show and turned the Karaoke thing into another hip hop/ dancehall/ dance Wednesday and the house was literally in flames.
One Janeqo (who i still insist is a janeko) even had the nerve to lyrically assault me making fun of my Property of Kisumu tisho but one dude from Kambi Balaa calling himself Noisy Balaa stole my heart with some crazy word play on almost any other track…he did a freestyle that lasted kedo 20 minutes on a genge, hip hop, ragga and ohangla track and even dared Lorah who was acting Deejay to drop him a mugithi track!! That was serious looking forward to hooking him up with some serious deal though.
Also on the mic was one Trevino aka Benzino aka Baby Temper aka The Boss who thrilled us with some sick Luo Ragga/ Hip hop vibes…and man that was some crazy night. Coming to think of it Janeqo and Trevino cud do some sick collabos – I think they are just two crazy minds.
Later on I got to meet Jack the manager at Tamiez to disqus some serious biz with Lorah and you should watch this space if you are a hip hop head coz Hip hop nites might be coming your way more frequently….Also in the houz earlier on was Angel of Quorum and his boo Grace but they ducked before the action started. Absent without apologies was the habitual yapping machine Dave Ngiri Odira btw I hear they got some mad stuff cooking in the studio with Lafam Tommy, Janeqo etc
Btw I love the samosaz at Tamiez man they are so damn tasty!!
In other news Saturday May 5th is world environment day please make sure you do a little thing to conserve your enviroment. A little thing like taking a bicycle to wherever you are going instead of driving or using a mat. There are also several events planned for the day in Kisumu so you can join one if you have time or even create your own event in the hood like clean-up exercises. Personally I will be doing some cleaning in Manyatta (with Ghasia poa youth group) and Nyalenda (with BAMATO) and you can join me in either places … refreshments and tools will be provided by Bike2Clean – a project of Coop Africa – If you feel like taking part hola on 0723726971.
